Elevator Doors
This is one of two
doors for a private residence in south Florida. I had the
pleasure of doing this project with two friends, Joe Garcia
and Derek Minnetti. The commission was Derek's. Joe did an
excellant job fabricating the frames. And Derek and I did
the castings. Derek also did the painted finish. I did the
CAD graphics and wax work. I've documented this project in
the "process" section
of this site. As described in the "process section", this is
the first time I've ever taken a jewelers approach to
architectural metalwork. Lost wax casting is rarely done in
this field. It was a great learning experience. And I'd love
to do more of it.
The castings and frame are aluminum.
Finish is powder coated with a darker "wash".
